Description
A delightful dish that combines rich seafood flavors with freshly baked bread, perfect for gatherings or family dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large round bread loaf (sourdough or Italian)
- 1 cup shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup crab meat (canned or fresh)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the top off the bread loaf and hollow out the inside, leaving about an inch of bread on the sides.
- In a skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the shrimp and cook for about 2-3 minutes until they turn pink and opaque. Remove from heat and let cool slightly, then chop the shrimp into small pieces.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped shrimp, crab meat, softened cream cheese, minced garlic, chopped green onions, lemon juice, half of the cheddar cheese, and salt and pepper to taste. Mix until well combined.
- Spoon the seafood mixture into the hollowed-out bread loaf, packing it in gently. Top with the remaining cheddar cheese and sprinkle the breadcrumbs evenly over the top.
- Place the filled bread bowl on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice the top of the bread loaf and serve warm.
Notes
- Wrap leftovers tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- For freezing, wrap well and consume within a month.
- To reheat, place in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 15-20 minutes.
