Description
Stuffed Cabbage Rolls in Tomato Sauce is a delightful dish that brings warmth and comfort to any meal, featuring tender cabbage leaves wrapped around a savory filling and complemented by a rich tomato sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large head of cabbage
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 cup (200 g) cooked rice
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups (480 ml) tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for sautéing)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the cabbage by boiling a large pot of water, removing the core, and cooking the whole head for 5-7 minutes until tender. Peel off 12-14 leaves.
- Make the filling by sautéing onion and garlic in olive oil, then mixing with ground beef, cooked rice, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Assemble the rolls by placing 2-3 tablespoons of filling at the base of each cabbage leaf, folding in the sides, and rolling tightly.
- Cook in tomato sauce by heating the sauce, layering it in a baking dish, placing the rolls seam-side down, covering with sauce, and baking at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes.
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, replace the meat with lentils or mushrooms.
- Use quinoa instead of rice for a gluten-free alternative.
- Consider adding a splash of vinegar to the sauce for a tangy kick.
