Description

A delightful blend of flavors, these Sticky Sesame Garlic Meatballs are tender and juicy, coated in a rich, sticky sauce that combines the sweetness of honey with savory garlic and sesame notes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 100 g breadcrumbs
  • 3 green onions, chopped (plus extra for garnish)
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, soy sauce, honey, breadcrumbs, and chopped green onions. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  2. Using your hands, form the mixture into small, round meatballs, about 2.5 cm in diameter. Place the formed meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through and have a nice golden-brown color.
  4. While the meatballs are baking, prepare the sticky glaze. In a small saucepan, combine 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of honey, and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Heat over medium heat until the mixture starts to bubble, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for a few minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Once the meatballs are cooked, remove them from the oven and drizzle the sticky glaze over them, tossing gently to coat each meatball evenly.
  6. Transfer the glazed meatballs to a serving platter. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and additional chopped green onions for garnish. Serve warm as an appetizer or over rice for a delicious main dish.

Notes

  • Store leftover meatballs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • To reheat, warm them in the microwave or on the stovetop.
  • For freezing, place the meatballs in a single layer on a baking sheet, freeze until solid, then transfer to a freezer bag.
