Description

A flavorful and crispy Spicy Cajun Crab Cakes recipe that brings a taste of New Orleans to your kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh crab meat
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup diced bell pepper
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the crab meat, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, eggs, Cajun seasoning, green onions, diced bell pepper, and hot sauce. Mix gently to avoid breaking up the crab meat too much.
  2. Once the mixture is well combined, use your hands to form it into patties, about 3 inches in diameter. Place the formed cakes on a plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, ensuring enough oil covers the bottom of the pan.
  4. Carefully place the crab cakes in the skillet, cooking for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Notes

  • For gluten-free, use gluten-free breadcrumbs.
  • For a lighter version, substitute Greek yogurt for mayonnaise.
  • Chill the crab cakes before cooking to help them hold their shape.
