Description
Southern BBQ Chicken Sandwiches with Peach Sauce are a delightful treat that combines sweet and savory flavors, perfect for summer cookouts and family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 500g)
- 2 medium ripe peaches, pitted and sliced
- 1 cup BBQ sauce (preferably peach-infused or your favorite variety)
- 4 hamburger buns (preferably toasted)
- 1 cup shredded lettuce (such as romaine or iceberg)
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup sliced pickles (dill or bread and butter)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and cook the chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced peaches and cook for 2-3 minutes, then add the BBQ sauce and simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
- Slice or shred the cooked chicken and mix it with the peach BBQ sauce in the skillet.
- Assemble the sandwiches by placing the peach BBQ chicken mixture on the bottom half of each toasted bun, topping with lettuce, red onion, and pickles, then placing the top half of the bun on each sandwich.
Notes
- For a healthier option, consider using grilled chicken instead of pan-frying.
- Swap peaches for other fruits like mango or pineapple for a different flavor profile.
- Use gluten-free buns to accommodate dietary needs.
- For a spicy kick, add some hot sauce to the BBQ sauce or include jalapeños in the sandwich.
