Description

Smoky BBQ Jackfruit Sliders are a delightful treat that mimic pulled beef, packed with flavor and perfect for summer barbecues or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe jackfruit (about 2–3 lbs), canned in water or brine, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 slider buns (soft, preferably whole wheat or brioche)
  • 1 cup coleslaw (store-bought or homemade)
  • Pickles (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Drain and rinse the canned jackfruit. Remove the core and seeds, then shred the jackfruit with your hands or a fork.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the shredded jackfruit along with smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Stir well to combine.
  3. Pour in the BBQ sauce and mix thoroughly. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low and cook for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Toast the slider buns in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Assemble the sliders by spooning a generous amount of the smoky BBQ jackfruit onto the bottom half of a toasted slider bun, topping with coleslaw and pickles.
  6. Place the top half of the slider bun over the filling and repeat for the remaining buns. Serve warm with extra BBQ sauce on the side.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free slider buns.
  • Swap the BBQ sauce for a homemade version to control sweetness and spice levels.
  • For a spicier kick, add cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the jackfruit mixture.
  • Store leftover jackfruit mixture in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • To reheat, warm the jackfruit mixture in a skillet over low heat until heated through.
