Description

Salmon Balls with Creamy Avocado Sauce are a delightful treat that combines rich flavors and a smooth texture, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • Fresh salmon fillet – 1 lb (450 g), skinless and boneless
  • Breadcrumbs – 1 cup (about 100 g)
  • Green onions – 2, finely chopped
  • Garlic – 2 cloves, minced
  • Lemon juice – 2 tablespoons
  • Egg – 1 large
  • Salt – 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil – for frying
  • Ripe avocados – 2, peeled and pitted
  • Greek yogurt – 1/2 cup (about 120 g)
  • Lime juice – 2 tablespoons
  • Fresh cilantro – 1/4 cup, chopped

Instructions

  1. Chop the fresh salmon fillet into small pieces or use a food processor for a chunky consistency.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chopped salmon, breadcrumbs, green onions, minced garlic, lemon juice, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into small balls, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.
  4. Heat about 1/4 inch of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Test the oil’s readiness by dropping a small piece of the salmon mixture into it.
  5. Carefully add the salmon balls to the hot oil, frying for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  6. In a blender or food processor, combine the ripe avocados, Greek yogurt, lime juice, and fresh cilantro. Blend until smooth and creamy. Taste and adjust seasoning with a pinch of salt and pepper if needed.
  7. Arrange the salmon balls on a serving platter and drizzle with the creamy avocado sauce or serve it on the side for dipping. Garnish with extra cilantro or lime wedges for a fresh touch.

Notes

  • Store leftover salmon balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
  • To reheat, place them in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
  • For freezing, place uncooked salmon balls on a baking sheet, freeze until solid, then transfer to a freezer bag.
