Description
A delightful snack or light breakfast featuring roasted figs, creamy ricotta cheese, and honey on crusty bread.
Ingredients
- Fresh figs – 8-10, halved
- Ricotta cheese – 1 cup
- Honey – 3 tablespoons (plus extra for drizzling)
- Crusty bread (such as sourdough or ciabatta) – 4 slices
- Olive oil – 2 tablespoons
- Sea salt – to taste
- Freshly cracked black pepper – optional, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Wash the fresh figs under cold water and pat them dry. Cut each fig in half and place them cut-side up on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Drizzle the figs with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and a sprinkle of sea salt. Roast in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the figs are soft and caramelized.
- While the figs are roasting, heat a grill pan or skillet over medium heat. Brush both sides of the bread slices with the remaining olive oil. Toast the bread in the pan for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Once the figs are roasted and the bread is toasted, spread a generous dollop of ricotta cheese on each slice of toast.
- Place the roasted fig halves on top of the ricotta, cut-side up.
- Drizzle the toasted fig and ricotta with honey.
- Finish with a sprinkle of sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper if desired.
- Serve immediately while the bread is warm and crispy.
Notes
- For a dairy-free option, use almond or coconut ricotta.
- Honey can be replaced with maple syrup for a vegan alternative.
- Try using gluten-free bread if needed.
- Consider using flavored ricotta or adding herbs for extra flavor.
