Description
Korean-Style BBQ Chicken Skewers are marinated in a delicious blend of sweet and savory ingredients, grilled to perfection, and perfect for summer barbecues or family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Skewers (wooden or metal)
Instructions
- Prepare the marinade by mixing soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, and gochujang in a bowl.
- Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces and add them to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours.
- Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto skewers, soaking wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes beforehand to prevent burning.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat and grill the skewers for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through.
Notes
- For gluten-free, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
- Replace brown sugar with honey or maple syrup for a different sweetness.
- For a milder flavor, reduce the amount of gochujang or omit it entirely.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat in the oven or skillet to maintain juiciness; can be frozen for up to 2 months.
