Description

A delightful blend of flavors and textures in a classic Italian sub sandwich, perfect for picnics, parties, or a quick lunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 hoagie rolls (freshly baked)
  • 4 ounces salami (thinly sliced)
  • 4 ounces pepperoni (thinly sliced)
  • 4 ounces ham (thinly sliced)
  • 4 ounces provolone cheese (sliced)
  • 1 cup lettuce (shredded)
  • 1 medium tomato (sliced)
  • 1/2 medium red onion (thinly sliced)
  • 1/4 cup banana peppers (sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Freshly ground black pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Start by slicing the hoagie rolls in half lengthwise, ensuring they stay connected on one side.
  2. Layer the salami, pepperoni, and ham on the bottom half of the roll, spreading them evenly.
  3. Add the provolone cheese on top of the meats, followed by the shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, red onions, and banana peppers.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, oregano, and black pepper. Drizzle this dressing over the layered vegetables, then close the sandwich and press down gently.

Notes

  • Serve at room temperature or slightly chilled.
  • Wrap in parchment paper for a rustic presentation.
  • Pairs well with chips or a fresh salad.
  • For a crunchier texture, toast the hoagie roll lightly before adding fillings.
