Description
A delicious and rustic Fig Walnut Galette, perfect for any occasion, combining sweet figs and crunchy walnuts.
Ingredients
Scale
- 500 grams fresh figs, quartered
- 100 grams walnuts, roughly chopped
- 250 grams all-purpose flour
- 115 grams unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 50 grams granulated sugar, plus extra for sprinkling
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 to 4 tablespoons ice water
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the chilled butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Form it into a disk, wrap it in plastic, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, combine the quartered figs and chopped walnuts. Add 25 grams (2 tablespoons) of sugar and gently toss to coat.
- Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface into a circle about 12 inches in diameter. Transfer it to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Spoon the fig and walnut mixture into the center, leaving a 2-inch border. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling, pleating as you go.
- Brush the edges with a little melted butter or water, then sprinkle the remaining sugar over the crust.
Notes
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
- Pairs well with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
- Drizzle with honey or maple syrup for added sweetness.
- Store wrapped in plastic wrap or aluminum foil in the refrigerator for up to three days.
- Can be frozen for up to two months.
