Description

A delightful twist on a classic favorite, this Creamy Cheesesteak Tortellini Recipe features a rich, creamy sauce that complements tender tortellini, reminiscent of a traditional cheesesteak.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz cheese-filled tortellini
  • 8 oz thinly sliced beef (such as sirloin or flank steak)
  • 1 cup sliced bell peppers (red and green)
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the tortellini in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil, then add the sliced bell peppers and onion. Cook for about 5 minutes until softened, then add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  4. Reduce heat to medium-low, pour in the heavy cream, stir in the Italian seasoning, and let simmer for 2-3 minutes to thicken.
  5. Return the cooked beef to the skillet and add the drained tortellini, gently tossing to coat.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded provolone cheese over the mixture, stirring gently until melted and creamy.

Notes

  • For a lighter option, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
  • Swap beef for chicken or turkey for a different flavor.
  • Use gluten-free tortellini to make this dish gluten-free.
  • For a vegetarian version, replace the meat with mushrooms or tofu.
