Description
Chili Lime Grilled Shrimp Skewers are a delightful treat that brings a burst of flavor to your table with zesty lime and spicy chili.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/4 cup lime juice, freshly squeezed
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
- 4–6 skewers (if using wooden skewers, soak in water for 30 minutes before grilling)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the lime juice, chili powder, minced garlic, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Whisk together until well mixed to create a flavorful marinade.
- Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the marinade. Toss to coat the shrimp evenly. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, but no longer than 2 hours.
- Once marinated, thread the shrimp onto the skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F or 200°C). Place the skewers on the preheated grill and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the shrimp are opaque and have nice grill marks.
Notes
- For a lower-fat option, use less olive oil or substitute it with a cooking spray.
- Ensure your chili powder is certified gluten-free for a gluten-free option.
- Consider using firm tofu or chicken as an alternative protein source.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- When reheating, use a microwave or a skillet over low heat to avoid overcooking the shrimp.
