Beef Bao Buns are soft, fluffy steamed buns filled with savory beef, perfect for a light meal or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ cup warm water

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix ground beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, green onions, and ginger. Set aside.
  2. In another bowl, combine flour and baking powder. Gradually add warm water and knead until smooth. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
  3. Divide the dough into small balls and flatten each ball into a circle.
  4. Place a spoonful of beef mixture in the center of each circle.
  5. Fold the edges over the filling and pinch to seal.
  6. Place buns in a steamer basket and steam for 15-20 minutes.
  7. Serve warm.

Notes

  • You can add vegetables to the beef mixture for extra flavor.
